The Wyoming Energy Transition
Worldwide demand for energy is growing daily. The national and global push towards decarbonization of the energy sector directly affects the Wyoming economy and the communities we call home.
Wyoming has powered the United States for over 50 years. The once plentiful fossil fuel job opportunities aren’t widely available throughout the state anymore. The industries that built our towns continue to contract and emerging ones aren’t replacing them.
Fossil fuels will continue to have a vital role in electricity generation throughout the world for the foreseeable future. New Federal programs and incentives to decarbonize energy have been introduced in 2021 and will continue to roll out. These wide-ranging programs are necessary for our state to diversify and adapt to national policies.
Our state has the infrastructure and willing industry participants to support diversification and produce new revenue streams. This is a team effort and requires statewide collaboration.
